The Librarians: The Next Chapter is adding another original series star to its winning equation. Lindy Booth will return as Cassandra Cillian in “And the Toy Phone,” the ninth episode of Season 2, which premieres Sunday, August 30.
It’s Cassandra’s first on-screen appearance in the TNT spinoff, but fans will remember that the character has been referenced before. The premiere episode of The Librarians: The Next Chapter included a mention that it was Cassandra who deduced how to free Vikram Chamberlain. Now she’ll be in the flesh alongside her fellow Librarian Jacob Stone (a returning Christian Kane), as both reappear to help save a child from a haunted house. But is this rescue mission as straightforward as it appears to be? Knowing The Librarians, probably not.
In “And the Toy Phone,” current Guardian Charlie Cornwall (portrayed by Jessica Green) reaches out to Jacob and Cassandra after receiving a call from a creepy toy phone. With the other characters away at a retreat, this seems like a chance to focus in on the legacy Librarians characters, and make the absolute most of their guest appearance. Viewers have already seen Kane provide some much-appreciated support to the new series by appearing in multiple episodes, and bringing Booth back only adds to the fun synergy between the original series and its predecessor.
Lindy Booth’s return is one more great thing about The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 2, which has successfully built on that first season and kept expounding upon what made the Librarians franchise so beloved. With just a handful of episodes left, “And the Toy Phone” is an opportunity to pause and enjoy where the current series is going, while also getting to reconnect with two characters who have become like old friends.
