Brian Stokes Mitchell is one of the most engaging people on Broadway, and now the Tony Award winner is engaging other stars in Crossovers Live! The new web series will see Brian interviewing other big names who have made the leap from theatre into film, TV and other avenues of entertainment.
Brian earned his Tony as Best Actor in a Musical for Kiss Me, Kate, but his resume goes far beyond critical acclaim. He’s one of the fan favorites of the New York stage, not only for his incredible talent as an actor and singer, but for his wonderful personality that lights up any space. He recently stole the show in Jodi Picoult and Timothy Allen McDonald’s pandemic musical Breathe, and other credits include South Pacific, Ragtime and Man of La Mancha (for which he earned another Tony Award nomination).
He’s also successfully sustained a career in television, film and as a recording artist; in fact, before he became known on Broadway, he starred as Dr. Justin Jackson in the long-running medical drama Trapper John M.D. from 1979-1986. Other TV credits include Frasier, Mr. Robot, The Path, and Prodigal Son, and you may not know that he provided voices in episodes iconic 90’s cartoons Animaniacs and Batman: The Animated Series. His latest album, Plays With Music, was released in 2019.
Now he’s stepping into the role of interviewer, and his lineup is a doozy. Crossovers Live! kicks off with Vanessa Williams (on July 26), followed by Marc Shaiman (Aug. 30), Bernadette Peters (Sept. 27), Kristin Chenoweth (Oct. 25), David Hyde Pierce (Nov. 22), and the season-ending holiday special with guests TBA (Dec. 20). As it’s all streamed online, anyone from anywhere in the country can tune in!
Part of the proceeds benefit The Actors Fund, so going to these shows is also helping support actors while the entertainment community continues to recover from COVID-19. What’s not to love?
