SPOILER ALERT: The following contains spoilers for From Season 4, Episode 7.
Maybe you can go home again after all. From just dropped one of the best episodes of in the MGM+ show’s history with Season 4, Episode 7, “Best Laid Plans.” For fans who have missed how the show felt in its early days, this episode transported viewers right back to the terrors of Season 1, while still propelling the story forward with new reveals.
Ricky He’s character Kenny is the star of this episode, with a storyline that will have viewers quite literally shouting at the TV. David Alpay’s Jade also continues his major character arc. The best part, though? The good old-fashioned townspeople monsters are back in full force.
Back in 2022, viewers were transported into the mysterious horror of Fromville, with Boyd ringing his bell at dusk to alert everyone that it was time to get inside. It was a small detail that would become a comfort over the years, and one that is emblematic of those early days. Seeing its return in From Season 4, Episode 7 feels like stepping into the show for the first time all over again, and truly sets the tone for what comes next.
From Season 4, Episode 7 Unleashes Chaos, Terror, and a Lot of Stress

Kenny felt like his story was a little too quiet in From Season 4 to date. The town is notorious for seeming to pick on him in particular, so he had to know it couldn’t last forever. After all, this is the seventh episode, and From is notorious for intense, game-changing seventh episodes.
After Tabitha’s memories about killing those big, creepy dolls with the totems, and with Jade’s idea that the children’s bones are the key to their salvation, Boyd finally clues the town in and they formulate a plan. Before they can even think about getting the bones, though, they need to test out if Tabitha’s doll-killing spear will work on a monster.
Enter Kenny, who after Boyd’s shaky hand betrays him, volunteers to try and kill a monster. Now, they had a good plan: stab a monster and run back inside. Everyone in town will be by their doors to let Kenny in wherever he runs. The problem? They talked about the plan in front of Sophia, who had ample time to get her monsters into place outside of everyone’s homes.
When Kenny stabs the milkman monster and he doesn’t die (but does give an over-the-top performance of fake dying—the monsters really are all comedians, aren’t they?), there is nowhere for Kenny to run. Out of options, he climbs to the roof of the bus, where the original Smiley monster (newly revealed as Fatima’s baby) follows him.
This is where fans begin panicking, as Smiley advances on a defenseless, trapped Kenny. But mother and monster really are connected, as we learn something major: Fatima is intimately connected to the thing she birthed. As Smiley goes in for the kill, Fatima sees through his eyes and screams, pulling him back and saving Kenny from a horrifying death.
From Season 4, Episode 7 Balances Emotional Weight With Lighthearted Moments

Other standout scenes in this episode include some banter between Jade and Kenny. We finally learn more about who Kenny was before he came into town, namely that he worked in youth sports. But any information in Jade’s flippant hands is dangerous, and he immediately needles poor Kenny with the hilarious “Coach Kenny” moniker.
As usual, Scott McCord’s character Victor tugs at the heartstrings. He knows firsthand what Hell the Man in Yellow unleashes, and so he asks Tabitha and Ethan to “do something scary” with him. When he finds the bag of teeth, he reasonably gets more upset. And despite Tabitha’s protests, he is right: Ethan does need to be prepared. If this town is setting up Ethan to be this cycle’s Victor, the sole survivor until the next cycle begins, then Ethan needs to be prepared. It’s more than Victor ever got.
