Yellowstone season 4: Cole Hauser on Rip’s potential breaking point

When Yellowstone returns to Paramount Network tomorrow, everyone will be waiting to find out if the Dutton family survived last season’s brutal ending—or if someone has died. Caught in the middle of all this violence is Rip Wheeler, the loyal ranch foreman played by Cole Hauser (Rogue, K-Ville). Rip has stayed with the Duttons through thick and thin, but this all-out war represents his biggest challenge yet.

I spoke to Cole ahead of tomorrow’s Yellowstone season 4 premiere to discuss how seeing his surrogate family attacked affects Rip and the position it puts him in while the Duttons try to piece things back together. He’s no stranger to violence, especially when necessary to protect the ranch; will the attacks push him into something even more extreme, or will his attention be focused on trying to heal the family when they need him most?

We also discussed if there’s a point where all of the drama and violence that Yellowstone has put him through (or made him a part of) will eventually catch up with Rip, and got an update on his relationship with Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly). Will they get their happy ending—if she survives past the season 4 premiere? Check out the video interview below for the answers to all these questions.

Yellowstone season 4 premieres on Sunday, November 7 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. Paramount Network will also replay the entirety of season 3 on Sunday leading up to the season 4 premiere for viewers who haven’t caught up with the show. Hopefully the fourth season will give Rip a bit of a break, but it sounds like it’s going to put him and the Dutton family through hell first.

Yellowstone airs Sundays at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on Paramount Network. Fans can catch up with a season 3 marathon tomorrow starting at 10:00 a.m. ET/7:00 a.m. PT.
