Sunday’s Bar Rescue episode sends Jon Taffer to the Lone Star State, and TVBrittanyF.com has an EXCLUSIVE first look at the new episode “Doing It for Dad” before it airs!
Jon has saved bars in Texas in past seasons, but this Season 8B rescue is a little bit different. When he comes to this Arlington establishment, he finds a family struggling to hold onto the last piece of their father’s legacy. G. Willikers was opened by Clarence Grider before Clarence was sadly diagnosed with cancer. He trained his wife to take over the bar after his passing—but she also passed away just months later.
Now Clarence’s daughters are in charge of the bar, and they weren’t prepared to take on the responsibility nor expecting it. What they do know is how much this bar means to their family and the Arlington community, so they’re looking to Jon to get the education they never had in how to keep it alive.
This will definitely be an emotional episode, but also a challenging one. Jon has dealt with bar owners who are processing a loss before (in installments like “Doreen’s Dilemma” from Season 6), and those are always difficult because of the emotional component. At the same time, Season 4’s “Loose Lips, Loose Tips” showed that there’s no such thing as a bar with multiple bosses—especially when those bosses are family. Bar Rescue viewers will be aware that Jon is going to have to make some tough decisions to save this bar, while also helping the family let go of the past and look toward the business’s future.
