From Season 4 arrives a year later since the Season 3 finale, and it’s like viewers never left. (Isn’t that the point, after all?) While the last season took MGM+ viewers out—however briefly—into the wider “real” world once again, the first half of Season 4 recenters and refocuses back around the town fans all know and… love? While the story expands, spanning time and even pushing back out into the forest, viewers are reminded why they choose to stay trapped in Fromville week after week alongside these characters. And fans crying for answers will get some.
The From Season 4 premiere picks right up where viewers left off. Last season, fans learned that time and space play by different rules here, and much of the town feels trapped in a bubble of infinity—from the road that never lets them leave, to the idea that death may not even be an escape. In Fromville, even when things change and the town feels scarier, it’s the same as it ever was. Forever.
The show has not shied away from well thought out religious tones in the past, from Father Khatri’s parish to Boyd’s military nickname of “Mr. Fish ‘n Loaves.” Could this place be a sort of purgatory? Is it the making of a deity or maybe of a demon? From Season 4 adds another layer to the religious aspect of the series, with the arrivals of a pastor and of Sofia, who quotes scripture quite regularly.
As far as the existing characters, Boyd, Donna, Tabitha and Jade have learned a lot in a very short time. Season 3 revealed that Jade and Tabitha were actually original inhabitants of the town who have been stuck in—for lack of a better description—a reincarnation cycle from Hell. They’ve been coming back to town over and over again to try and save the children, only to die in the pursuit every single time.
But From Season 4 lets everyone know quite blatantly and threateningly, “Knowledge comes at a cost.” Episodes can feel like two steps forward, three steps back to the characters, but fans will see they are steadily pushing ahead toward answers. Even when they feel defeated, the audience still gleans new insights and ideas. As Boyd repeats: “If we keep pushing, it will push back.” But something has to give, and one side has to break. Is another push worth potentially opening up the floodgates?
Yet it’s not all doom and gloom (kind of). One of the town’s most endearingly cruel running bits is the diner’s jukeboxes and their sarcastic song choices to play at the worst moments. The second episode of Season 4 has a particularly excellent needle drop. It’s moments of twisted levity like these that keep the tone of From nicely balanced.
And while the show has amazingly multilayered characters, there’s always at least one townsperson guaranteed to get under viewers’ skin and make people want to shake them through the TV. With Randall more subdued these days, Acosta has happily taken up that mantle, making a particularly frustrating story choice early on.
All of this means that From Season 4 has a little something for everyone. Fan-favorite characters get compelling screen time; Jade fans will be particularly pleased. Some answers to the mysteries are revealed. There’s a little character growth, a little gore, and this season ramps up the scares, which is saying something in the world of From.

There are some slow moments, but in a high-octane series like this, having an episode to breathe is not necessarily a bad thing. It’s refreshing to know that the show still delivers. Viewers will be as invested in these characters as they ever were, and it’s praiseworthy for a horror show to keep that same level of engagement and terror.
Of course, many questions still remain—and they should. It’s all too easy to fall victim to wanting everything and every answer offered up at once. The story has to unfold in a compelling enough manner to make those answers feel earned. The way fans start to see those narrative threads begin to tie together this season, every new revelation in From feels very satisfying.
There are what feels like a million theories on how it could all play out—and that’s the fun of it. Season 4 is a welcome mix of confirming existing suspicions and throwing compelling curveballs. It’s primed to be the most satisfying season of this nail-biting series yet.
