SeriesFest closing night is upon us, and critically acclaimed thriller The Beast Must Die is this year’s closing night selection. The AMC+ series is weaving a tale of revenge and desperation when it premieres this summer, and audiences can get an inside look at it on the June 30 panel; tickets are available here.
Based on the titular novel by Cecil Day-Lewis, The Beast Must Die follows Frances Cairnes (The Good Wife and The Good Fight alum Cush Jumbo OBE, an Olivier Award nominee) as she goes to extreme lengths when the hit-and-run death of her son is mishandled. Frances believes that a man named George Rattery (BAFTA winner and Emmy Award nominee Jared Harris of Chernobyl) is responsible, and ingratiates herself with George and his family. But like all good thrillers, her best-laid plan spins wildly out of control, and it’s anyone’s guess who will be left standing.
The series is set to premiere on AMC+ over the Fourth of July weekend, and then have its linear debut on AMC starting July 12. You can watch the trailer below, which looks like it’s breathing new life into the revenge genre with some first-class performances—and then hear directly from the people who delivered those performances in the SeriesFest panel.
The discussion includes both Cush Jumbo and Jared Harris, as well as The Beast Must Die writer Gaby Chiappe and director Dome Karukoski. That means audiences will get perspective on all the major parts of this series, from in front of the camera to behind it and how it got onto the page. It’s a complete exploration of a show that will definitely get binge-watched when it drops on July 5.
You can utilize the links underneath the trailer to get tickets, but be aware that as this is closing night, SeriesFest is only streaming this panel starting tonight and into early tomorrow morning. However, if you’ve missed any of the SeriesFest 2021 action, a number of other talks, panels and events are still going to be online through July 11; go to the website to check out the full catalog.
