Chicago Fire: The return of Wendy Seager

Episode Title: “Dead Zone”

Episode Description: A major security breach in the city’s computer networks forces Firehouse 51’s senior leaders to take matters into their own hands. Severide gears up for an arson investigation.

What To Watch For: This episode will pick up the church fire story from last week’s 200th installment, which means that Chicago Fire is bringing back recurring character Wendy Seager (played by Andy Allo from Upload) for her first appearance in season 10. It seems like at least once a season there’s a “Severide investigates some kind of arson” story and when there is, Seager shows up.

What’s she been up to since we saw her last? And how will the dynamic between Seager and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) keep developing? The duo make good colleagues and it’s been nice to see Severide have a female friend outside of Firehouse 51, just because a lot of the women he runs into outside of his team used to be just more romantic headaches for him. They’ve worked together across a few seasons now so what will this case bring to Chicago Fire that’s different from the other arson jobs they’ve worked before?

This episode also comes as Miranda Rae Mayo has been absent for several episodes, with Severide’s fiancee Stella Kidd said to be working in Boston. It was a real surprise that Miranda wasn’t included in the milestone 200th episode, and begs the question of how long she’ll be out this season. Will Stella pop up here to interact with Severide and Seager? She didn’t have the greatest dynamic with Wendy, originally worrying that Seager had a romantic interest in Kelly, but Seager did help Stella with Girls on Fire.
