Season 2 of Cross wasted no time in shaking up the status quo. In the first three episodes, audiences learned a potentially damaging secret about FBI agent Kayla Craig—while Kayla’s relationship with Alex Cross took a major turn. But that wasn’t her only big shift; Kayla also turned to old acquaintance Bobby Trey, last seen being labeled as the Fanboy Killer, for help.
Actors Alona Tal and Johnny Ray Gill spoke about these bold developments for their characters in Cross Season 2. They talked about how the changes for Kayla and Bobby allowed them to explore different aspects of each character. Plus, what do they think Prime Video viewers should look out for this season?
Brittany Frederick: Alona, one of the biggest headlines in Cross Season 2 is the further evolution of Cross and Kayla’s relationship. What was it like for you to dig even deeper into that dynamic?
Alona Tal: It was a lot of fun for me. It’s what I wanted. The fact that I got to have a taste of it last season, and not get to exercise it more was was honestly a bummer, even though it was right for the story. But selfishly, I want more. I’m a selfish creature, and I wanted to have more, and I got more this time. So [I’m] really happy about it.
Johnny, your character has this exciting jumping-off point, where last season he was public enemy number one and now he’s back in a new way. How did you approach Bobby this time around?
Johnny Ray Gill: Shoutout to [Cross executive producer and showrunner] Ben [Watkins] and the writers for creating that launch point. It was nice to be able to exercise some of my vocal skills and my and my gardening skills. It was a great starting point for something that’s going to be incredibly timely and relevant and explosive for the fans. So I’m excited.
