SPOILER ALERT: The following contains spoilers from Chicago PD Season 13, Episode 10.
Chicago PD is finally letting Dante Torres finish his self-loathing era. Season 13, Episode 10 is the follow-up to Season 13, Episode 6, “Send Me.” It’s better than that episode, and in providing the answers that fans have been waiting for, “Faith” also cleans the slate for Torres.
In retrospect, it would have been better to air this as Episode 7 and let audiences get the second half of the story right away. Even though “Faith” starts with a “previously on” recap, that’s not quite as effective. But the episode does explain that Odell Morgan was indeed innocent, how he was framed by a corrupt detective, and why he was set up to take the fall. Furthermore, the rapport that Torres develops with the victim’s daughter Dominique almost makes everything that he’s had to endure worth it—because Torres is able to use his experience to help Dominique navigate her struggles.
But the most important thing about this episode is that it puts Dante Torres back on track. Benjamin Levy Aguilar is solid as always, and it simply feels like Torres has his own faith—and his personality—back. Chicago PD stretched out his personal crisis longer than it needed to, yet “Faith” seems to allow him to turn the page. The final scene of Torres sitting in the church at Simone’s memorial, silently giving his encouragement to Dominique, feels like a weight has been lifted off of him, too. And it’s exciting to think of who Torres can be now that all of this is behind him.

“Faith” also creates a fun partnership between Torres and Eva Imani that Chicago PD would be wise to use more often. So much of Imani’s scenes have been with Hank Voight, so for her overall development, it’s great to flesh out her dynamics with the other Intelligence Unit members. But she also provides a fresh perspective for Torres. Their personalities are a good match, and she gives him the support that he needs (and that he frankly deserves after all his angst). It’s worth saying yet again how much of a great addition actor Arienne Mandi has been.
The rest of the characters are mostly just in supporting roles, but that’s par for the course on Chicago PD. Most episodes tend to focus in on one or two people instead of feeling like a team effort. Yet that works in “Faith” because this story is so specifically about Torres. It’s not simply a case of the week that happens to be a Torres story. It’s his journey as much as a whodunit. In fact, viewers likely won’t be surprised when the actual killer is revealed to be a corrupt cop. In the world of Chicago PD, corruption is practically normalized.
“Faith” tells a story that doesn’t have nor need a ton of twists and turns. It’s a much better way to learn about Dante Torres than the whole Gloria arc was, simply because it’s much more relatable. Pairing Torres with Imani is a smart move that boosts both characters as well. Chicago PD doesn’t have to deliver a ton of action to be interesting; sometimes it needs a quieter episode (relatively speaking) like this.
