Fans of true crime won’t want to miss the Death Row Confidential: Secrets of a Serial Killer finale, as the Oxygen miniseries comes to an end. The final two episodes—airing back-to-back Sept. 20—detail how San Quentin inmate Bill Noguera and investigator Ken Mains were able to fully expose serial killer Joseph Naso. How many more chilling details will they uncover?
Mains, the retired detective who utilized Noguera’s information to build a further case against Naso, explained to TVBrittanyF.com how Noguera was able to escape the stigma that comes with being a prison informant. “I think Bill was respected by most of the convicts and Naso was not,” he reflected. “Bill was on death row in the worst prison in America for over 40 years and he knew how to survive. Most of the convicts despise serial killers, according to Bill, so I think that may have played a role.”
Noguera’s story adds another layer to Death Row Confidential. Why would an inmate be so motivated to help law enforcement? And does that change the way that Mains views Noguera?
“He did his time in San Quentin the right way—by bettering himself,” Mains told us. “He could have joined a gang, ran drugs or committed more violent acts. He could have let his life become a waste, but he chose differently. He helped others and bettered himself. To me, that is redemption. Bill did not solve these murders, but without Bill these murders would not have been solved. And that helped numerous families who have been crippled by not knowing.”
Death Row Confidential: Secrets of a Serial Killer is a shocking, surprising and sometimes even emotional story of justice found in an unlikely place. Audiences can watch the two-episode finale this Saturday at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT after a new episode of Cold Justice, and catch up by reviewing the first look trailer below.
