It’s time to circle the wagons: HBO has released the Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills trailer, bringing the long-running NFL Films series back in style.

The Bills were an obvious pick for the latest Hard Knocks season, given the team’s continued gains in popularity, as well as quarterback Josh Allen winning the NFL MVP award and becoming an even bigger name. The show is always looking for the most exciting angle (whether it’s been focusing on individual teams or whole divisions), and the Bills are the most exciting team in football.

That’s not just because of Allen and his nearly superhuman ability, and not just because of the Bills’ success on the field. It’s because of the genuine personalities of the players—people who aren’t trying to be anything but themselves—as well as the deep connection that the team has with their community, as well as the Bills Mafia at large. Every NFL team has a passionate fan base, but the Bills have a synergy with Buffalo and what it stands for that sets them apart. And the fun they have together will be a shot in the arm for Hard Knocks.

Allen, Bills head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane are among those featured in the new season, which begins August 5 and will air episodes weekly on HBO through September, carrying viewers to the start of the NFL schedule. Viewers will also be able to stream the episodes on HBO Max.

However, this will be a season definitely worth watching live. Docuseries in any sport, particularly those that take place in the lead-up to an event, often run the risk of empty hype. They’re trying to create excitement and/or drama, feeling like they have to keep an audience entertained. But there won’t be anything overhyped or manufactured here. The Buffalo Bills, the joy they play football with and the talent they have are must-watch TV all on their own. There are other fantastic teams in the league, but none that feel as genuine and genuinely cool as the Bills—and now HBO audiences are getting to come along for the ride.
