Transplant season 3 EXCLUSIVE video: Will Theo let a patient die?

As Transplant Season 3 continues, Dr. Theo Hunter faces a massive medical dilemma—and strong opposition from one of his colleagues.

The NBC medical drama moves to Fridays with its Jan. 12 episode, entitled “Unstuck in Time.” During the hour, Theo (played by Jim Watson) finds himself having to make one of the most difficult decisions that a doctor can deal with. His patient has a do not resuscitate (DNR) order tattooed on his chest, but as Dr. Elizabeth Bergeron (Marianne Farley) points out, a tattoo is not the same as formal medical paperwork. Theo and Liz immediately butt heads over whether or not to honor the patient’s wishes, and they don’t have long to make a decision.

Medical shows regularly have plots involving DNR orders and how doctors react to them, but Transplant giving that storyline to Theo adds another layer to it. Viewers know that part of Transplant Season 3 has been Theo recovering after his traumatic helicopter crash, so he’s already been dealing with life and death-level questions personally. He has a far different perspective on his patient than Liz does—but regardless of what he believes, there’s also what is or isn’t in the paperwork and what Canadian law dictates. It’s a very complex situation and Theo being at the center of it makes it even more compelling.

But he’s not the only one stressed during “Unstuck in Time.” Elsewhere in the episode, Dr. Bashir “Bash” Hamed (Hamza Haq) teams up with Dr. Mark Novak (Gord Rand) when a wedding is decimated by gunfire, leaving the bride and groom fighting to survive on what should have been the happiest day of their lives. Plus, Dr. Magalie “Mags” Leblanc (Laurence Leboeuf) faces a patient who becomes increasingly demanding and Dr. June Curtis (Ayisha Issa) finds an old habit coming back to haunt her again. With only three episodes left after this, the tension is quickly ratcheting up inside York Memorial Hospital.
