The Voice season 19 kicks off on Monday, and the NBC singing competition is coming out of the gate swinging with a four-chair audition from Tamara Jade.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly a decade since the show took America by storm, but it has, and not even the pandemic can slow it down. After going virtual in the middle of last season, the series is back in the studio for the new season, and has a new group of artists hoping to become superstars.
Gwen Stefani returns again after a one-season absence, replacing Nick Jonas as the show’s rock representative. Blake Shelton, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson are all back for another go-around in their big red chairs, and they’re impressed early on by Tamara Jade, who comes to Universal Studios Hollywood with a personal song choice.
Tamara is a seasoned artist who perfoms a Lizzo hit for the panel and gets all four of them to turn their chairs with some of the massive notes she’s able to hit. Naturally, that means a pitching war breaks out among the talent to secure her services – and no debate among the Voice coaches is anything short of ridiculous. Who will Tamara Jade pick as her coach?
One thing we do know is that she’s likely to make it pretty far in The Voice season 19. The show normally leads off with some of its best auditions (remember Terry McDermott in season 3, who batted leadoff and made it all the way to the finals?). And the fact that her audition is dropping early is another good sign; it’d make no sense to promote her if she’s getting eliminated in a few weeks. So keep your eye on Tamara – and get ready for a new season of vocal surprises and coach mayhem.
